a peek inside the creative process

abstract watercolor paintings are my bread and butter. each original piece is painted on high quality watercolor paper.

the technique used here is wet on wet. by delicately sprinkling salt across the wet pigments, a pattern emerges as the piece dries.

the result are bursts, swirls and splotches of color that look like funky science experiment or a distant planet.

each original piece is created with kosher salt, which may leave subtle raised crystals on the surface. this texture adds a beautiful dimension to the work, especially when displayed in natural light.

if preferred, any unwanted texture can be carefully brushed away, though this may slightly alter the finished look.

prints of most original pieces are available in a variety of sizes.
